چکیده

in this paper, construction rules of the root locus of a positive feedback system whose loop transfer function is not strictly proper have been investigated. the root locus method is being used since 1950. it is demonstrated that some of the steps in this technique are not general and for a positive feedback system whose loop transfer function is not strictly proper are not valid. to overcome this problem, new definitions for root locus branches have been presented which divide them into branches passing through infinity and branches ending/starting at/from infinity. we have also considered the realization and stability of these systems.

properties of branches passing through infinity in the root locus of positive feedback systems.

in this paper, construction properties of branches in the root locus of a positive feedback system whose loop transfer function is not strictly proper have been investigated. we have introduced and proved the formulations for calculating the number of branches passing through infinity, point of intersection of the asymptotes on the real axis, and angle of these asymptotes with positive directio...

Complementary root locus revisited

In this paper, a new finding related to the well-known root locus method that is covered in the introductory control systems books is presented. It is shown that some of the complementary root locus rules and properties are not valid for systems with loop transfer functions that are not strictly proper. New definitions for root locus branches have been presented which divide them into branches ...

Extending the Root-Locus Method to Fractional-Order Systems

The well-known root-locus method is developed for special subset of linear time-invariant systems known as fractional-order systems. Transfer functions of these systems are rational functions with polynomials of rational powers of the Laplace variable s. Such systems are defined on a Riemann surface because of their multivalued nature. A set of rules for plotting the root loci on the first Riem...

Analysis of a Control system through Root locus Technique

The root-locus method is a well-known tool for control system analysis and design. It is an important topic in introductory undergraduate engineering control disciplines. In this paper we present the analysis of a transfer function using root locus method. Through analysis of transfer function we check the effect of gain on poles and zeros.

Projective Root-Locus: An Extension of Root-Locus Plot to the Projective Plane

In this paper we present an extension of the classical Root-Locus (RL) method where the points are calculated in the real projective plane instead of the conventional affine real plane; we denominate this extension of the Root-Locus as “Projective Root-Locus (PjRL)”. To plot the PjRL we use the concept of “Gnomonic Projection” in order to have a representation of the projective real plane as a ...
